| Web Managers Report 2013
Reporting from 2012, it was another busy year with two successful Burns Suppers in February. The Immortal Memory on the 4th February was proposed by Alex Fergusson MSP and on the 11th February , by one of our own members, William Brown. The coffee morning in March, organised by our lady members, as usual raised much needed funds. Our first concert in May was followed in June by a night featuring local talented youngsters, then our Farm Supper was held in September. All of our concerts are always well attended, again raising funds for the upkeep of Ellisland Farm.
Work carries on at the Farm with our volunteers maintaining the buildings and farm implements. We are always on the lookout for volunteers to come along on a Wednesday morning and join the ‘Wednesday Gang’
We have been kindly gifted a mural of two 8’x 4’ panels depicting part of the story of Tam O’ Shanter, painted by local artist James Macauley. This was originally housed in Souter Johnny’s public house in Dumfries and is now situated in the Threshing Barn.
On to 2013 and another two successful Burns Suppers, one on the 2nd February the other on the 9th and again the coffee morning on the 2nd March.
This year our Spring Concert(Young Burnsians) is on the 10th May and on June the 12th there will be an American choir visiting Ellisland with a programme which will include some Burns songs. On August 17th we have our Farm Supper which is always popular. For More details and prices please refer to ‘Forthcoming Events’ on the web site.
If you are one of our regular visitors we look forward to seeing you again and if you have yet to visit Ellisland, we look forward to welcoming you and will strive to make your visit a memorable one. Halina Cairns Web Manager Friends of Ellisland.
